Every day, 680 women die in Sub Saharan Africa, from largely preventable complications related to pregnancy. In comparison, less than 30 women die in Australia every year from pregnancy-related issues.
We ask you, during your pregnancy, or perhaps your daughter's pregnancy, to donate towards the cost of safe care to one other woman sharing that same pregnancy journey.
It costs around $200 to provide full care for one woman during pregnancy and every donation helps towards reaching this goal. You can make her journey free of fear, so she knows there will be someone there with the skills to bring her and her baby safely through in one of the Barbara May Foundation’s dedicated maternity hospitals.

The Barbara May Foundation is already providing care in Ethiopia and Tanzania to thousands of women and is partnering to build new obstetric hospitals in South Sudan. They are providing safe pregnancy and birthing care and providing expertise to treat and to avoid complications.
Their director, Dr Andrew Browning is an Australian Obstetrician who is a world recognised expert on the management of fistulas, a crippling complication of obstructed labour.
